thats it.

a little expensive but considering the quality of th elens it is going on, well worth it., I can't find any other nice deep hoods elsewhere.

the only drawback is that it is too small to go on inverted over the focusing collar,

I srote it inverted over the lens mount end

Are you sure you are not using a Pentax DA* UNLIMITED? for those shots?

Beautiful dog you have too.

Lowell that is excellent advice, I will look for one.
I am getting the itch for a 135 preset.
PRESET may be the key word here. I have a Tair 11A 135mm f2.8 Russian lens that is PRESET and it is just wonderful. I also have a Flektogon Zebra 35m f2.8 that is kind of preset, but with one aperture ring that you preset, then after focusing wide open, you push a button that closes the iris. You have to keep the button pressed while the shot is taken. The image of this last one is comparable to the DA35mm f2.8 macro. I was going to sell my Pentax K 400mm f5.6 preset, I may have discovered its real value.

I dont think Pentax has UNLIMITED lens yet.

Thanks. I really enjoyed the thread. Thanks for making me spend more money on this lens.

I'm sure you are going to enjoy it! I'm extremely happy I bought mine. It's been permanently fixed to my K-x since I got it. My other Takumars are now either sitting in my bag being neglected or used on an old film camera I got a few weeks ago.

I do do some post processing with my images to get the best out of them. Nothing too extreme, but before converting them to jpeg, I bump the blacks up slightly and might tweak the exposure very slightly to get the light the same as I remember it when shooting.

The only real downside I've seen with this lens so far is that CA can become evident when shooting in bright snow conditions. Everything else and the CA either isn't noticeable or is so slight that it really doesn't matter.

Its an awesome lens, I really wish they made more like it. I REALLY like the 18 blade aperture and that the aperture is on the front of the lens. I think both of these really lends to the 3D effect and the great way this lens renders images, like no other lens I've used so far.

I may need to pick up another body to use my other lenses with. I don't think this lens will be coming off the K-x any time soon

Here are my first shots with the Auto Tak 200mm 3.5

As soon as I got it, I took it to my office in downtown Los Angeles, and in the middle of the highway, there is a small tree with this bird, urban bird. I shot it wide open, but the bird moved and came out blurred. It was 1 pm, but this lens came with a huge long hood. These shots are at f/4 and f/5.6:

Nice! With this lens, I like to bump up the blacks slightly before converting them to jpeg. It will bring out more color and depth to the photo.

Great looking bird. I'm sure you're going to fall in love with this lens.

Couple more from today. The Takumar 200mm F3.5 works good as a landscape lens too!
