SMC M 100mm f/2.8

Arrived yesterday, all f/2.8 shots from this morning's walk at the front garden, nothing special, but certainly the lens is. The last two taken with Vivitar Matched Macro Adapter 1:1 which cuts nearest focus from 100cm to a merely few centimeters.

Nice! Seems like the macro adapter didn't even do much IQ wise. Hope you can produce more quality shots with that setup.

Thanks!
Yes, this screw-in macro adapter is good, I use it mainly with M 50/1.7 to get closer focus. Good thing that M 100/2.8 has 49mm filter thread, so the adapter fits in nicely. The dof is noticeably thinner with this adapter, but easy to fix with couple of aperture step-downs. I have a macro-focusing teleconverter, but I prefer the simplicity of screw-ins

Might I ask what type of adapter it is? Curious, as I'd love to try something like that out for macro shots.

It's the same as the adapter used in this thread:

I bought it separately from a friend, along with many tiny bits like hoods, filters, etc. I believe this adapter originally comes with this lens:

Some gorgeous shots. I was just thinking that a 100 or 135 mm A might make an interesting next addition to my (limited) collection. Your M must stand for "magnificant" - these are really lovely.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice compositions and colors. M 100/2.8 is a very good lens, it produces sharp picture with good contrast, but for some reason it's underrated.

A great lens indeed. I use it for portraits, one of the model said, "Do you have a less sharp lens? People can see my pores!".

I got a K105/2.8 and I was going to sell my copy of the M100. Now I'm not so sure.

I have an M 100/2.8 which is as good as any of the two 105mm super takumars I have. The only thing I miss in it would be a built in hood which some of the other M lenses possess.
