Pentax FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited samples

Post a review | Specifications | Buy

----------------------------------------------------

A fine little prime in all aspects. It is as good as all the reviews say it is, and the results never cease to impress:

Thanks Simon. It had too many missing links to images that it became problematic, so it had to be deleted.

So let's see your magic from this lens.

One more B&W special:

I hope these pics are good enough to be on here. If not, it's not the lenses fault, it's the newb behind the camera.

Adding some I'm sure I had in the other thread.

And a few more recent, the last from this morning.

Thanks so much, sage. I really liked yours too, especially "yellow", and the head of the guitar.

Tripod, 13 seconds, ISO 1600 and judicious use of photoshop adjustments (levels, vibrance, saturation, contrast). I don't have any fancy stuff like stacking software, or GPS things. I just went out, stuck the cam on the tripod, and tried a number of different exposures. This seemed to be the best of the bunch once back and on the computer. Also did some with a 15mm but I prefer the 43s, because you can use a shorter exposure time. I don't have a remote yet

I'm going to head out again pretty soon with a longer lens (a 200mm Minolta mount, with an adapter... it seems to focus to infinity so I'll give it a whirl and see what happens). Need to brave the cold weather, but it seems best to do it in winter when there's not so much heat rising off the earth to disturb the night skies.

This is awesome. Were you on manual or B mode? Maybe f16 or higher?

I'll give it a try tomorrow night. To sleepy right now.
Manual, Can't do B without a remote ;-) Exif tells me it was F2. F16 would have needed B mode, and a longer exposure. There are limits Good luck tomorrow night

You can check the exif of all my shots at flickr. I don't hide it, like some do. Only time it goes missing is if I do editing on the iPad with apps like snapseed.

You did indeed! I'm waiting for you to post some of your shots of your son and wife that I know you have taken with the 43 (ad the K200D, iirc?) Magic, they are.

How's the bike ride?

Anyway here's a sample from me. cropped with some PP

I haven't encountered the so called "magic dusts" yet. But man this lens really is a jewel.
