Oh my goodness...I used to have a dog who looked so much like this one! He was a Dalmatian cross Australian Blue Cattle. Developed a heart condition at 9 years of age and had to be put down, unfortunately. He was such an affectionate dog.

Shutter speed was at 1.6 secs.

Yes. I also tried 2 secs and 1.3 but preferred the results with 1.6.

Looks great to me. I think you shoot earlier than I do. I wait until the explosion fully mushrooms which is why I don't need more than 1.6 secs. Looks like either way can produce beautiful results.
