Thanks. As it so happens, I just received a copy of the FA 50 Macro. It's kind of an accident that I wound up acquiring it. I had sold $830 worth of lenses to keh.com, and after using the money to purchase an FA 31, I had about $230 left. The only lens keh had around $200 that appealed to me was the FA 50, so I ended up getting it. I do appreciate the lens's 1:1 magnification. The 1:2 magnification of the A 50/2.8 can be an issue on FF (not so much on APS-C).
The A 50/2.8 is an under-appreciated classic. Not only is it very sharp, but there's a subtle and unique beauty to its rendering of detail and color that set it apart. But the FA 50/2.8 is great as well, and I'm not sure I'll have much use for A series lens going forward.
