HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm Sample Photos

I bought this lens a few weeks ago, with this trip in mind. Every photo taken in this album was taken with the 55-300. I shot them in RAW, color corrected in Photoshop (using Curves) and added a little sharpness using the Unsharp Mask. I had my ISO and shutter speed set to auto, and my aperture set to f/5.6 (I believe). I also used AF-C, with the back AF button and burst mode shooting. I have to admit, I was impressed with the sharpness of some of these photos.

Enjoy!

Pretty good results for a "cheapie" zoom lens.

Makes me want to run outside and put my DA-L version to work. Only problem is getting into the long underwear, the parka, the heavy socks and the snow boots, and then how do I operate the lens with ski mitts on?

Nice work with the lens.

Since I have a copy of this lens in my possession nowadays, and it's a fairly new lens, I thought it would be good to post some of my shots here.
It's a friend's lens which will fly to him next week.

@ 70mm, f/6.7, slightly cropped I guess

@ 170mm, f/6.7

@ 300mm, f/8, about 50% crop I guess.

@300mm, f/8, about 100% crop

@300mm, f/8, about 100% crop
