HD PENTAX DA 560 mm f/5,6 ED AW

I just had the opportunity to play with this lens for a day. This then made me search if there were any good sample shots available on the net, better than my own testshots - some real ones.

Quite difficult to find, but hey, the ones you get are great.

So here is some collection:

Go check the user gallery of user PvC001:

The launch price for the DA 560 was not out of this world. The price you mentioned appears a lot more realistic. Has the change been confirmed "officially" or in public?

The US price is still $6,995.95. 4500 Euros is still $6,100. The US price of the Sigma 500/4.5 is $4,999. You can get a used FA* 600/4 for about $6,000. You can get the FA* 250-600/5.6 for less.

There are samples from this lens in the 300mm+ club

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/122-lens-clubs/55946-300mm-plus-lens-club...ng-lenses.html

Though nobody has bothered to do a review for the database.

Only now noticed this thread.
I've decided to save ip for this lens. It has gotten little credit so far, but the samples show that the DA560mm is a superb lens with a few weaknesses, and not a mediocre lens that is overpriced.
I use the Sigma 500/4.5 on the K3, but the first thing I noticed about the DA560mm when seeing raw samples, was that this lens resolves finer detail than the Sigma 500/4.5. Apart from that, WR and the highly accurate focus that users report is the reason for the decision to sell my Sigma 500/4.5, and get the DA560. What was your experience with the focus performance?

Chris

Regardless of the price is a great lens for a great value, considering it has more reach than the Sigma Ex 500mm f4.5. You pay a little more for 160mm extra reach, SDM, WR and those delicious Pentax colors. It's worth it.

Actually, only 60mm extra reach, and about (what?) 1/2 stop slower, but now we're nitpicking....

The Sigma I think could be used with the 1.4 converter. I haven't had much luck with the TC and 5.6 lenses. But if I win the lottery tomorrow, or even the next day..

Check out the 1.4 AW teleconverter with any lens club tread. A poster has the DA 560 and the 1.4 teleconverter with some fantastic results (and high praise from the user himself)

Even though it's a 5.6 lens, when you look through the viewfinder the view is bright enough I guess.
I had the opportunity to use this lens one day in the Zoo, it was raining. and nothing was better than having a K-3 and and AW long lens.
It might be good to share them here too, as lens samples:

Some of these were shot hand held. :|

I'm pretty sure DPReview user PvC001 is user @vcollerp on this forum. He (Philip) has posted some amazing images with this lens and TC combination here, or you can look at his FLICKR account https://www.flickr.com/photos/121475335@N07

I hope that he will be coming past Cape Town sometime early next year, and I hope to have a meet-up with him and his lens combination then.
