The US price is still $6,995.95. 4500 Euros is still $6,100. The US price of the Sigma 500/4.5 is $4,999. You can get a used FA* 600/4 for about $6,000. You can get the FA* 250-600/5.6 for less.

There are samples from this lens in the 300mm+ club

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/122-lens-clubs/55946-300mm-plus-lens-club...ng-lenses.html

Though nobody has bothered to do a review for the database.

I don't know where you can find an FA* 250-600mm for less than 6000$, since I bought mine I never saw a good copy for less than 9000$, rising as much as 13K$...

Hi Blythman,
Just wanted to compliment you on these photos. They are all really good, but I especially like the hummingbird and owl in flight. Nicely done.

Thank you. Very kind. Not a hummingbird though. A Kingfisher

560mm + HD DA 1.4x + F 1.7x: 1333mm

Hi,

A very simple shot using the 560 with two converters
* HD DA 1.4x
* F 1.7x

Overall 1333mm with semi-autofocus.
Autofocus only works in live-view (CDAF), with optical viewfinder and PDAF focus goes back and forth.

Aperture f/14 (Fully open the aperture is f/9.5 in camera display).
Distance: Around 50mm

Original picture with two 100% crops.
Second crop with chromatic aberration reduction and sharpening within lightroom.

Very impressed with the quality of this combo

Regards

You mean DA 560 with two stacked tele-converters [1.4 TC + 1.7 TC] ?

Good image quality, surprisingly. A lot can go wrong with multiple TC - and shooting at 1300mm.

Yes .

I used a good gitzo tripod and a Wimberley gimbal head.

Camera + F 1.7x + HD DA 1.4x + HD DA 560mm.

Great for moon shots.

This one has post processing withing lightroom.

Different 100% crops and the combo.

If I have time, I will publish pictures with 560 alone, 560 + 1.4x and 560+1.4x+1.7x with the same still subject.

Regards

Impressive shots, impressive rig.

How do you use the Cactus trigger? Moon seems too far away for flash.

Thank you rawr
I'm glad you like it.

The Cactus is for the tests I've done using the same model with different lens/converters combination.
  • 560 alone
  • 560+1.4x
  • 560+1.4x+1.7x

I will upload the pictures tomorrow (22:30 in Madrid). Stay tuned .

Good work. I am sure this will be of interest to potential DA 560 users.

Image quality doesn't suffer much from either the 1.4 or 1.7 TC, aside from some obvious vignetting with the 1.4 TC used on the K-1.
