Thank you for your efforts! If you have the time and you may, please do the same tests in a remote target under daylight. Most probably these will be the conditions under which the DA 560 will be used. Thank you again

Thank you my friend! Really appreciate this as the DA 560 is a lens that I have in my mind (I shoot mainly telephoto lenses) but I have seen very few user reviews and feedback on it's handling (I'm most interested in handholding impressions and results). There are not many images you can see taken with this big lens either, so I haven't made up my mind whether it could fit my needs and offer the quality I'm after.

So I will stay tuned waiting for your next tests and images taken with this lens!

Great samples! The IQ is quite impressive. If I understand well these shots were taken at f11 for the DA without TCs, right?

Thank you for your time and effort! Much appreciated!

How do you find the lens wide open and at F8? Tell us some more things from your experience and especially if you shoot it handheld ;-)

Do you have pics from the lens somewhere where we can see more?

I'm late joining the party and this is one great thread!
To Palikrovol:
What camera did you use for those last images?
Thanks!

P.S.: I am really amazed with the sharpness of this lens even with TC's !!

Hi jpzk,

In all the samples I have uploaded I used the K-1 in full frame format.

Hi redpit,

I have always closed the aperture lens around f/9 and f/11 even with the TCs attached.
After reading the lens review in PF, I have always used this apertures. I think the hot spot is around f/9.
In the last samples the procedure was: Attach the TC when lens is full open and before tacking the picture close two full stops. The aperture displayed in camera was:
  • 560: f/11
  • 560+1.4x: f/16
  • 560+1.4x+1.7x: f/18. Full open displays f/9.5

When I have time, I will take some more pictures without the TCs with different apertures.

I just have the lens for a couple of months and I have used for moon shots with the TCs, so always with a tripod .
I tried it hand held the first time I used, and I think you can take a couple of pictures at high shutter speed, not more . Well, it depends on your age and strength .
I want to go to the Retiro park, here in Madrid, to take some nature/animals pictures. When I do I will post some of them.

As stated in the other reviews, the lens is not very well balanced in the gimbal head with the K1+grip. I have to use a long plate (wimberley p-50) and set it way forward.

That's great news palikrovol! First of all congratulations for your great kit! I also have the 150-450 and I'm considering buying the DA 560

Thus, I'm very interested in some comparison pictures at 560 Vs 450mm wide open and at f8...

I'm aslo interested to see how much more magnification the 560 offers on real situation pics...

Finally how bad the DA 560 vignettes wide open and at F8.

I know that I ask too much my friend but I will be grateful if you can help me with those questions! There is no hurry, you can take your time and any help you can provide is very much appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

All from K3 + 560mm
Thank you my friend! These are superb photos, congrats!

I was planning to buy the DA 560 from @KiloHotelphoto but there was no way I could fly it to my place, so I'm thinking of buying one new here in Greece... These kind of samples like @palikrovol tests are great motivation as I'm saving money!

PS: @Adam I hope that after the DFA 150-450 we get the DA 560 review on the K-1 as well!
