First pictures from my new DA 16-85mm

The lens arrived yesterday. Opus, my Citron Cockatoo, posed for the first pictures out of it using my K-3. Took these were shot in RAW at max aperture with minimal lighting & AV mode, used LR only to convert to JPEG, no other PP. Was very impressed at how sharp they were through the focal range for being very quick test shots. Have a lot of experience with a 18-135mm on a K-50 (my wife uses it now) which I've tried a few times on the K-3, this lens is much better IMO. The next test will be how it does outdoors, which is what I mainly bought it for.
From the top: 16mm, 39mm, 60mm & 85mm

I must say, from the images posted here; I'm very impressed with this lens. I was going to get a 15 ltd, but may change to this lens!

Had forgotten to turn my ISO back up in the " I got a new lens" excitement

Was more focused on keeping him from biting the lens hood, than my settings - that beak can do a lot of damage....wouldn't be first time either !!

HD DA 16-85mm ED DC WR and K5 IIs

Like the others here, I'm very pleased with the results that I'm getting with this new lens. The shot of the Canada Goose is cropped to about 1/3 of the original. It was shot in raw and converted to jpeg in Photoshop. I did minor sharpening and shadow adjustments and used Topaz to remove the noise in the sky.
The other shots are hand held 5 shot bracketed exposures, merged in Photomatix Pro and then finished in Photoshop and Topaz.

I just got this lens. Here are some of the first shots I've taken.

I had the opportunity to introduce this lens to the southern Cascades in Oregon:

I've got one on the way and just can't wait. All of your shots are just stunning and makes the wait just that much harder. After a couple of SDM headaches, I'm very ready for a different approach (albeit a DC motor) to quiet focusing. I hope to have some results here to share soon.

Cheers ...

Mine showed up today, most expensive lens I have ever owned... Come to think of it, most expensive camera equipment I have ever owned, period. Took a lunchtime walkabout along La Jolla cove.

So far in this short thread the percentage of first rate shots is impressive. I just sold all my Voigtlander and Zeiss primes to pare down to two quality zooms (this lens and the 60-250). I worried I would regret it, but after taking my first serious shot with the 16-85 at my favorite test location, I'm convinced at least 50% of the decision was sound. At 48mm, F5.6:

That's a nice shot! I'm finding it soft and slow for lighting that isn't ideal, however. I need to work with it more.
