FA*250-600mm 5.6 samples

Not an easy lens to work but rewards with effort.

A shot taken in near darkness @ ISO1600

Nice! The lens has an attractive 3-D effect.

I thought it would be about time to me to put some photo sample of this lens I am using for the last 6-7 years...
Let's start with a recent capture:

Portrait of a Fox puppy.
If you look closer, you can also see a tick in one of his ear.

Pentax K-1 + SMC Pentax-FA* 250-600mm f5.6 ED [IF] @ 600mm
1/1250s at ƒ/6.3, ISO 500

The post-processing include a circular filter to darken the background by 0.5 stop, and some little other, basic and very light PP.

Before my rotator cuffs started failing, this was my dream lens.

Another one from recent outings...

When you do not have a macro lens on hand, you can do almost the same with a long telephoto... Just get to the minimal focusing distance**, put the lens wide open and shoot at ground level and you'll get good results.

Here, combined witht the K-1, which is impressive at low light and high ISO (10000 ISO here)

Sanguinaire du Canada / Bloodroot [Sanguinaria canadensis]

Sanguinaire du Canada / Bloodroot [Sanguinaria canadensis]

Pentax K-1 + SMC Pentax-FA* 250-600mm f5.6 ED [IF] @ 600mm
1/800s at ƒ/6.3, ISO 10000

** fyi, the FA*250-600 has a 350cm (11.5 ft) minimal focusing distance, which makes it one of the best in Taht regard in the long tele zoom category.

This is a bit different as usual... a video capture with Pentax K-1 + SMC Pentax-FA* 250-600mm ƒ/5.6 ED [IF] @ 600mm
I was lucky enough to capture the incredible moments where a "Fox Pack" of fox pups spend all it's time playing, teasing each others and... scratching! We have seen as much as nine young and one adult foxes where some seems a bit older than the others. Is this the result of a multi-family grouping?
Disclaimer: Sorry for the background noise and poor handling technique / shake. I was at maybe 150-200ft, laying flat in the road ditch, camera on the ground (no tripods), and cars were passing by in my back while I was filming this. Also my handling and video technique/editing needs some improvements... (used the out-of-the-box Windows 10 app called "Photos")

Hope you can enjoy this moment as much as I did!

one more from this AM

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Twenty-four hours after hatching, the baby Wood Ducks are getting ready to jump out of the nest. Their mother was waiting for them on the ground, about 5-6 meters down. They all got out in a short moment. I counted 14 of them.
