XR Rikenon 1:2.8 45mm

Can't find much information about this little lens, but it's a full frame K mount lens with a plastic barrel and metal mount. It's a "Pancake" style design (similar to the Pentax M 40mm f2.8) with a 52mm filter thread, very compact and lightweight.

Here's a few photos of it, then with it:

This one's at f5.6:

And at f2.8:

And finally with a 20mm Extension tube:

Several listed on eBay from Japan right now, though I think the price is a bit high. I wouldn't pay $120 for this lens or the Pentax M 40/2.8...One of the listings is $230/obo.

It's been a rare find, your copy looks great! I've used their 50s and a poor 55 f/2.2 but not the 45.

That 55 f/2.2 is dreadful - I kind of like mine for occasional "artsy" shots, but it really is quite poor. The 50 f/2 models are great, though, and I'm sure the faster ones are better still. I'd enjoy playing around with this 45... an interesting focal length and, as you say, quite rare

I had an XR Rikenon 55/1.2 for a while - that lens was top notch, in the same class as the Pentax A 50/1.2 IMO - this 45/2.8 doesn't have the same build quality although the optics certainly appear good, but I won't hang on to it simply because of my FA 43/1.9

I don't think the 55mm f/2.2 is "poor" or "dreadful", come on, don't be so strict!
In digital time, considering the choice of modern objectives, this lens can be seen only as a specialty lens.
Kind of poor man's Trioplan.
I didn't use it very much, just tested. I got a few nice bubble bokeh pictures... which is the only reason to use such kind of lens.
