Pentax HD D-FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6

Although this lens is so called kit lens for K-1, it is really impressive. I really love it. Big minus is that this lens does not have focusing scale. Quite hard is to focus at night. But overall, really good one for this value.

So some shots from me with K-1.

Built for the K-1, but I'm thinking it is a better value than the 16-85mm for my K-5! Especially if discounts continue to apprear for this one. Lighter, smaller filters and a lower price; just add a wide prime or two and I'm pretty much set. Yes the 18-135 makes more sense in theory - but my two copies were not satisfactory so it's off my list.

Nicely shot and dreamily worked

Yeah, I'm really happy with this lens. When I bought it then I had K-3II and I was really impressed how, so called, crisp the images looked. It was major step compared to my other lenses (Sigma 10-20 f3.5 and Tamron 17-50 f2.8) in terms of image quality.
I certainly recommend this lens.

Really beautiful shots. Show us some more!
I ordered the D-FA 28-105 for a great price a couple of days ago. Canīt wait to put it on my K1!

It seems to better than the 18-135, which I used for a while on a K3. Sharpness towards the edges, the ugliest form of vignetting I have ever seen, unreliable AF... I sold it rapidly. Maybe i had a bad copy.

Those are amazing UrmoP - I've got some work to do to catch up to those. A more simple shot here:

Great outdoor event lens on APS-C camera

This thread is way underrepresented. Especially using other than full frame!

National Balloon Classic 2017, Indianola Iowa. Pentax K3.

28mm, f/5.6, ISO 200, 1/160 sec., EV -0.3, uncropped.
TWEETY:

28mm, f/11, ISO 400, 1/60 sec., slightly cropped.
Balloon over Trees:

53mm, f/4.5, ISO 100, 1/80 sec., slightly cropped.
Moon Balloon:

53mm, f4.5, ISO 400, 1/25 sec. lower right cropped.
Kidde Train:

88mm, f/5.6, ISO 400, 1/30 sec. cropped.
Bouncy Battle:

105mm, f/7.1, ISO 400, 1/100 sec. uncropped.
Field Balloons:

Makes for a very usable outdoor event lens on an APS-C sensor camera. Very happy with it. Not the sharpest lens but fairly even sharpness across the frame can be easily enhanced in PP; creates a very pleasingly rendered image. Used DxO Optics Pro ver. 11 and Adobe Elements 9.

It took me awhile to stop being surprised at how good this lens is.

I think this is a great travel lens. On a recent trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas it stayed on the K-1 and I never used the other lenses.

After days of rain the sky cleared up just long enough yesterday morning to show off a little.
