I've learned not to lust after things it will take me 6 months to find.

Actually now that I think off out, there's a few things i never found, even after years, but most of it came down to more i didn't want to pay the outrageous prices, not that I actually couldn't find it. The exception being the matched Tamron 2x TC that goes with my Tamron 300 2.8. I've never even seen one for sale. People who have them don't part with them.

So how is this lens for availability?

there's a handful on eBay right now - but they are overpriced.... I waited maybe two weeks, before a decently-priced one came up...

since I sold the Mamiya to make way for other lenses, I have been on the lookout for the Tomioka/Yashica version of this macro lens and finally found one (with a low serial number, no less):
