Luftfluss,
Very nice!!!
Did you get your copy in the US or from Japan? All I see are in Japan and some have been "cleaned".

Yup, I got mine from Japan, and it was "cleaned" - one of the internal elements had something removed, maybe mold/fungus, although I don't see the typical etching in the glass that fungus creates. The cleaning process removed much of the coating on that element but I have yet to see an adverse effect in photos. Otherwise the lens is in good shape as well as the case and it arrived in just 4 days... not bad for $388 + 13% eBay bucks.

You're very kind

Cropped away about 90% of the frame... not exactly a controlled test of what the lens is capable of, but IMO a good "real world" example...

f/6.7

Yesterday was my first time taking the K 500/4.5 on a trip. I went to a local pond, where my only customer was a handsome great blue heron.

I had the K500 mounted on an Oben monopod, f/8, first shot at about 50 yards, second shot maybe 15 yards closer and at a lower altitude. First shot cropped by 60%, second by 40%.

Both shots feature a lovely job by me in blowing out the white feathers on the bird's head. Mad skillz.

Today at the pond, unpleasant lighting conditions - sun straight overhead, a bit hazy.

f/8

More critters come out in the evening...

Unexpected visitor... shot at f/5.6, didn't have time to stop down...

Both the preceding photo and the following one were shot in conjunction with the PENTAX Helicoid Extension Tube K

It seems that you have mastered the SMC 500/4.5 lens and the manual focus technique! Great samples, very beautiful photos. Congrats!
