Fujinon 55mm f2.2 (M42)

I did not see a thread for this film-era lens (please alert me if I missed it)

How does it compare to the Takumar 55, which is always my gold standard for small, cheap, and amazing?

it doesn't - the Tak55/1.8 destroys it on ease of handling, color saturation and rendering, and overall build quality - plus this Fuji has to be altered if you want infinity-focus...

Why is that? If it's M42 mount…

yes, but for Fuji ST cameras, so there's a nub on the bottom of the lens that will keep it from mounting flush to the camera:

That nub stops the lens from sitting flush to the lens mount, so yes it will stop infinity focus, not a big deal on a macro lens, but also will mean that the lens is not as secure on the camera. The other problem is that there is no manual stop down on the lens, so unless you remove the aperture spring, you will only be able to use it wide open.
This latter is a real problem for me. I have the following M42 lenses which are all but useless on my K3, unless of course you want to use them wide open:-
Fujinon 35mm f3,5, Fujinon 55mm f1.8, Fujinon 55mm f3.5 Macro, Fujinon 100mm f2.8, Voigtlander SL 40mm f2. As I still like my film cameras I am not about to "butcher" these lenses.
