Irix 150mm f2.8 Macro 'Dragonfly'

a fairly-new lens, but kinda surprised that it isn't represented here (yet)

Those are some nice shots. I especially like the gears. Thanks for sharing.

Like the gears shot. Have you tried the lens on distant subjects, yet? If so, how's it performing?

The gears are very nice. But all these shots demonstrate the capabilities of the lens.

Sigma never made their 150mm f/2.8 Macro lens available IN K mount, turns out that is not such a great loss as it might seem. This Irix 150mm f/2.8 lens seems to be a rather solid performer.

agreed - one caveat concerning the Irix, however, is that it is a manual-focus lens... while not an issue for macro shooting, as a telephoto lens, it can be somewhat limiting...

I have a few days off for the holiday, plus this coming weekend and I intend to stretch the Irix's legs a bit...

a couple of shots at infinity:

nothing truly notable other than it was bloody cold yesterday and the Irix can be heavy to use in 30mph wind without a tripod...

I'm will aware of the perspective that a longer macro lens and if the extra working distance, but adding the DA HD 1.4X gets you pretty closer to this.

So besides being a stop faster than the DFA 100, and manual focus, what attracted you to the lens?
