Nikkor-SC 55mm f1.2

this is a pre-AI lens that was purchased for use on my K-S1a project:

for comparison purposes, this is the Cosina 55/1.2 on the right:

and even infinity focus - which has been a concern with this project

In theory you should hit infinity early and be able to focus slightly past infinity. Are you finding this is the case? With the very slight differences in flange focal distance if expect the lens might have enough internal adjustment to reset infinity into line up correctly even if you mount it directly into a standard Pentax mount. (this can be done with non ai Nikon lenses but isn't very secure)

no theory - this lens will focus beyond infinity....

funny thing in comparing the mount of this lens with the prior Nikkor (35/2) on the K-S1a: this lens will turn almost all the way on the mount to where 'normal' would be for a K-mount lens, while the 35/2 will stop (hard stop) about 2/3rds of the way around....

That is odd.

How's the feel of the aperture ring? And is there an unmarked stop (or two?) between 1.2 and 2?

Lovely! But I'm greedy, so I can't help but wonder how that pasture scene would've looked through a 300mm (or 500mm!) lens.
Do you think those horses would come back and pose again? Maybe they like cookies?

Also, when I look at your photo I can hear Paul Simon singing about ♫ ...the greens of summers...♫.
I wonder if Mr. Simon ever used a 55 f/1.2 with his Nikon?

tiny detents for the aperture stops - and there is one unmarked stop between 2 and 1.2...

I'll bet he never had a 55/1.2 on his Pentax...
