TT Artisan 50mm f1.2 (APS-C only, X-mount)

If you follow anything related to mirrorless cameras and lenses available for them, you've noticed the massive influx of Chinese-designed and -manufactured lenses...

Most are fully-manual lenses, but a handful of AF are starting to arrive, also....

This is the TT Artisan 50mm f1.2 lens - mine is for Fuji X-mount - and is currently available for $98 (yep, less than a C-note)....

compared to an Olympus 50/1.4

the lens arrives nicely boxed:

no hood is included, but front and rear caps are:

all of the lense's markings are screened-on (not engraved), so there will be the possibility that they will fade in time....

and the aperture's blades:

but you didn't buy the lens for f5.6/f8 shots, right?

For the price it seems pretty good. I do wonder what they could have done at a street price of $300 USD... Maybe give the option of clicked and de-clicked aperture ring via a switch or button on the lens? Improved the optical performance at f1.2 somehow to increase sharpness? It seems pretty soft out wide open.

TT & 7Artisans (they seem very closely related) are turning out some interesting glass for Leica M and Fuji X mounts.

as am I - this is my first native-x lens, so I figured I'd give this a try....

I did not expect to receive such an accomplished piece of equipment....

Indeed it's impressive, especially for the price you got it.

I really like this one. Does this lens not work for exif data? I notice it says 35mm and F/0. I guess I could live with that for $98, but it would probably drive me crazy for a while.

thank you - no, no EXIF data from it at all, no electronics in the lens, so no communication with the camera body.... so if I screw up the lens-focal-length or forget to change it, it's on me....

that's less important on the X-T2, since there isn't any form of SR on that body - but more important on the X-H1....
