It's worth pointing out that my QDOS version also had a Ricoh pin as well as the KA mount.

Which reminds me of the super slow aperture blades of my Komine version.... That also has a Ricoh pin, but nothing to worry about. Only some crappy cheap third party glass has a Ricoh pin that will catch. It needs to be rounded and receded. If it is squared of don't use the lens or try to remove the pin (without loosing the a contact or the little aperture ball bearing

Komine version with super slow aperture blades here... is there a solution? With film cameras isn't a problem but with the K-1 is unusable

I just tested this morning my second Series 1, it's the 2nd gen made by Tokina f3.5, and indeed, its IQ is awesome, even at 70 or 210mm, just as a good prime lens !
10/10 Bokeh, 10/10 sharpness, no CA at all, light reflects make a soft 6 branch star.
It has a 6 blades diaph. but the blades are well curved so the bokeh is huge !
Maybe mine needs a little infinity focus calibration, or I shall test again higher than f8...
I'll keep both, one for easier handling (the cosina) and the Tokina for super IQ photos

...or some Ricoh Rikenon-P and not-so-cheap third-party lenses from before Pentax released its KAF bodies. The "safe" versions of the Ricoh pin are found on lenses that date to sometime after the debut of Pentax AF cameras in 1987, when the incompatibility became obvious. (The pin itself dates to 1984.)

Added: The "safe" version is a spring-loaded ball-type contact. Any that look like a pin (rounded or not) should be assumed to be unsafe.

Thanks. I already had it stored as a project, but I always fear I will just totally mess it up. It seems to have gotten even worse now it is not just slow but practically stuck. Only manually handling the lever will make it close.

Just have to take a deep breath and get stuck in. it was the same with the vivitar komine 400mm I had in my box for ages. When i finally did it it was easy.

Look around for a camera/lens techie, I'm sure there must be one who can look at the online ino and go yeah no prob, Andrea.
