as far as I can tell - no..

and I considered that when I started this new page... mainly that page's age and level of participation...

however, in the interest of keeping minimal pages on the same lens, should the threads be merged?
since i have added this as a new lens in the index, we can leave it no problem. its hard to tell with all the vivitar variants where the lines should be drawn.

as to age, never let ager of the thread put you off, because there are a lot of threads that are 10 years old, and not many post, so when you look at an old thread, sometimes you get a warning about this being an old thread. just ignore it.

now that I've adjusted/tightened the rear element, I'm hoping for a break in the rain...

seems that I've made it worse by tightening it - now it focuses waaaaaay past infinity and close up focus is amazingly soft....

I'll be putting off that calibration mess until this weekend then....

Maybe it is missing a spacer between the lens group and the body of the lens

See my repair article:

Kiron/Vivitar 28mm f2 (24mm f2) sticky iris fix - PentaxForums.com

The lens comprises two optical blocks. Remove the mount to access the rear one - it can be sticky to unscrew. Then you can inspect it properly.

one note - this is the Komine version, not the Kiron...

Think about it logically. If infinity focus is off you have changed inadvertently the focal length. That’s why I think you have either lost or ov3 compressed a spacer

infinity focus was a bit off before I tightened the lens block.... and I made it even more so...
