MC Mir-24N 35mm f2

this is the second lens to arrive this week - oddly enough, from the same Arsenal manufacturing plant...

35mm is one of my favorite focal lengths and this lens gets some pretty positive reviews - I'm hoping it compares to my Flektogon 35 and Nikkor 35/2...

that is the Flektogon on the right:

more bare-metal aperture blades:

and another Nikon F-mount (also available in M42):

this copy has cleaning marks in the front, a fair amount of dust, and even some bubbles in the glass, but still sharp:

what also attracted me to this lens was its ability to close-focus, down to 24cm

Beautiful photos! Thanks for sharing

The MIR-24N is one of the few Soviet lenses I don't own, though I do have the M42 version, which - curiously, I've always thought - has a quite different body design, thought it's the same optically. A really nice lens, for sure...

thank you, Mike

from the info I've read, the Nikon and M42 variants were made in different locations, hence the different body/barrel configurations...

I knew that 24Ns were produced at the Arsenal factory whilst the Ms came out of the KMZ plant, but didn't realise this contributed to the body and barrel config... interesting, thank you for that!

if you take a look at the other Soviet lens I posted this morning, you'll see strong similarities between them: fonts, paint colors, focus & aperture rings, etc...

Yes, the Arsenal-produced lenses - at least, those that also became Arsat-branded variants - do have certain design themes running through them. Very utilitarian... I like
