I just got notification that my silver HD Pentax-DFA 1:2.8 100mm macro ED AW is in the post!

Expect some more side-by-side comparisons with my SMC Pentax-DFA 1:2.8 100mm Macro WR early next week

My copy of the new 100mm AW macro lens arrived! I have some great macro shots of things on my car dash, hopefully this weekend I can get out and shoot something more interesting!

Exactly why I wanted one in silver (aside from matching my silver K1 of course). Was hoping to get #300, but it was the last one in stock from Australia's distributor, so I did not want to risk missing out (plus, wasn't even sure the last lot was in Australia).

I guess I noticed some of your 'recent' Pentax-M stuff in the forum where I in turn just read the marketplace offers, so the user name looked familiar :-)

Thanks for the test shots, I was really curious to see the foreground transition at 1:1 and f/8 to f/11 - one of my least favorite aspects of the WR version. While I found two lenses, IRIX 150 and especially LAOWA 100, that render beautifully, the 100WR is still by far the best of the bunch in terms of handling. Your metal block looks promising, apparently the foreground onion rings are not as pronounced as in the WR version.

If you find the time, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding some dusty metal with speckles just like Jo's as well. A similar comparison shot with both versions, showing both foreground and background transitions near the diffraction limit would be highly appreciated.

I never imagined myself buying a silver limited.
But this one look so good that I simply had to order it.

Seems like a more all-around lens now to, applications where the
WR-version fell short. More bang for the buck for the not exclusive
macro photographer.
