bought an optio p70 just to carry in handbag took some wonderful pics and then battery died will not allow to recharge using charger supplied does anyone have ideas whether its the battery or the charger thats at fault?

I'm presuming that the camera uses a special battery that is user replaceable?

Does the charger have any lights that come on when it's supposed to be charging?

Do you have a multimeter to measure the voltage that is present on the charger output pins?

If it's still fairly new then a return to the store to let them troubleshoot (assuming they know anything) would be in order.

Just some thoughts to check things with.

It may be time for a new battery. LI type batteries don't last forever and eventually will not hold a charge.

pentax D-LI88 | eBay

Pretty cheap to replace both the battery and the charger if you choose to do so.
