sigma 18-125?

Hi. Looking to move for film into the digital era. Really like the idea of a k-r, but would prefer a mid-range zoom. The pentax 18-135 is out of my price range, but i've seen poor reviews of the sigma. Any thoughts?

otherwise i'm going to have to consider canon 500+18-135...
