i have a chinon 45 auto zoom can anyone tell me about it and what kind of film does it use as i would like to try using it i think they were made in 1973-74

Hm, did you try searching for a manual online? Those can be very helpful. I never had that camera, though, so I can't tell you much about it. Maybe upload a pic?

have been trying all night but can find very little info on it i think it takes a super 8 silent cartridge but cant seem to find out much about that either

Try www.butkus.org He has a lot of old manuals posted. I can't get to the site from work to check but I thinks he has some Chinon info listed.
