The Ev bar shows on the live viewfinder (back of camera) but not in the viewfinder or in the top of camera display.
The viewfinder and top display just show a dot.
What do I adjust to see the display as indicated in the manual under viewfinder Page 35 Pentax K 5

If you have the electronic level on, it replaces the EV bar in the viewfinder. You should always be able to see it in M mode, though.

Electronic level is off and I am in M mode.
Just see pulsating dash/dot in viewfinder and top display.
Live view however shows the full bar with incremental adjustments.

Just checked E Level again and it was on.
I shut it down.
Problem resolved.
I guess it doesn't work in M mode.

Great to hear that doing so fixed the problem

You should still be able to access the electronic level by pressing the info button, as needed.

Ps I guess I'll join

It works in Manual mode. However full EV bar shows up only when you change EV. Otherwise it shows you exposure difference from optimal (what camera thinks is optimal).
