K10d problems with indoor shots

My k10d always seems dark when I shoot indoors. I look at people's cheap point and shoot cameras that take nice bright pictures at the same event, even other dslrs seem so much brighter. Does this happen to anyone else? I mostly have it on green which is the same setting I used on the other slr's I compared them too.
