Is the Pentax 100-300 F4.5-5.6 SMC FA compatible with my Pentax K7?

Yes. Except the aperture ring won't work, it must be kept in the A position and you control aperture using the scroll wheels on the camera instead.

Fully compatible. You can still use the aperture ring, you just have to turn on the function from the menu. Turn on "Enable use of Aperture Ring" in the camera options. This would disengage aperture control from the wheels though.

Just to clarify: "Enable use of Aperture Ring" permits the use of the aperture ring but does not require it. If the lens is in the 'A' position then the camera wheels work, if the aperture ring is in any position but 'A' then the camera wheel will be disengaged from the aperture and the aperture ring must be used.

Using the aperture ring also prevents any mode but "M" from actually working, and cripples "M" mode to require stop down metering. Definitely not something you'd do by choice. if your aperture ring has an "A" position, leave it there.
