What is the digital equivalent for the ZX-50 I want to go digital.

Dunno. How much you looking to spend?

ZX-50 was a lower-end film SLR so the nearest equivalent now would be something like a K-x (~$350), although I'd be inclined to pay the little bit extra for the K-r.

Pretty much any digital SLR should be a worthwhile upgrade. The older 6.1 Mpx bodies, such as the K100D, are very inexpensive. Follow the link above that says "Cameras" and see what takes your fancy.
