scratched viewfinder

Hi,
The square plastic viewfinder on the back of my Optio E40 camera got badly scratched, can I replace the viewfinder or can the scratches be removed anyway?

I take it you mean the LCD on the back. Though it could be replaced it would likely cost more than the camera is worth at this point. You could try overlaying a screen protector that may hide the scratches.
Even the lowest price model right now would vastly outperform the E40 which is now 5 years old.

the VS20 is $171 at bh photo and is higher res with a bigger zoom amongst many other upgrades. If you do replace the camera put a screeen protector over the LCD it'll keep it like new (barring impact damage)

It's taped on so you might try to obtain a replacement from Pentax directly and replace it yourself. It can be pry opened with a sharp flat blade cutter. Whether the camera will be scarred depends on your skill (you can tape the edge for protection first).

You can upgrade to the optio RS1500 for $49.95- that's got to be one of the cheapest cameras from 2011 out there!

Probably also the least popular camera of 2011, but hey, it's so affordable that I bought one for my friend, whose old Pentax P&S broke last year.

not much of a camera by todays standards but wildly better than the op's and probably the same price as the parts well spotted (P/S are not my forte)
