1.12 firmware gives my images an unwanted line

I just updated my firmware to 1.12 and now all my images have a dark line running through them?!!
Changed memo cards, lenses, settings...all still have a dark line through them, except...
when I shoot in video mode (but that setting never get used on my rig)?!

I tried re installing the firmware with a new download to no avil
Is there a way to get rid of this scourge - HELP!!!

Hello there, mate. Please remain calm
Which camera did you update? How long did the update take, did it finish normally? Did you try the "reset to factory defaults"?
Also, it might be helpful if you uploaded a photo that clearly shows the problem. Thanks

I updated the k-7, it took a little over 60 seconds, yes it finished normally, yes I reset to factory defaults- no it did not help.
It looks like someone took a pencil or pen, and drew a straight black line horizontally across the entire image, 1/3 of the way up from the bottom.

Hm, it might be a problem with the sensor, I doubt firmware could do that. Is this jpeg or raw shooting?

I only shoot RAW (but the line shows up in JPEG as well), the camera was working fine right up until the firmware update.

Would give Pentax a call. Is your K-7 still under warranty? That sensor replacement would be pricey, ouch!

Almost surely a coincidence. This sounds like a sensor that's starting to fail.

how long should one reasonably expect a sensor like this to last...this one is just shy of two years old, and not seen a lot of use.

The sensor should last until the mirror breaks, which should be at least 100,000 clicks.
