55-300 Lenses

What is the difference between a Pentax DA 55-300 and a DA-L 55-300?

The DA-L designation means it has a plastic mount instead of metal, does not have 'quick shift' and does not come supplied with a hood. The DA-L lenses are usually sold only as part of a kit but they can be found occasionally separately. Optically they are supposed to be identical.

The plastic mount is no big deal, the hood you can get cheap anywhere, but quick shift is worth the extra money, IMHO.
