58mm and 52mm

I see now that the 18 to 55 lens on my new K-5
is 52mm. Whereas the Pentax 55-200
lens that I lust ordered is 58mm. Please tell me
this is not a problem.

Correction: That should read 55-300.

No problem!
52mm and 58mm are the diameters of the filter threads at the front of your lenses.
You don't need to think about those numbers unless you're buying screw on accessories, lens caps or hoods.

Just to add, even the screw on accessory problem can be worked around with ring adapters that come pretty cheap, so no worries at all.

all thumbs and shree

I asked this question in an inside email to my Pentax supplier. Never got a reply. I called them and was hung-up on. Thanks to you and this site I know I can ask stupid questions and receive timely, friendly and knowledgeable answers.
