Sigma lens to K-x camera

I have been trying to use my Sigma 70-300 Pentax lens mount bought for a film Pentax on my SLR K-x camera. I keep getting a flashing F---- message and the shutter button won't depress to take a picture. HELP!!

There should be an option in your camera where it will let you shoot even though there's no F-stop.
If you use Av. it'll use the lowest aperture it can.
If you use Manual, You can twist the ring.

In your K-x's menu options, go to C (custom menu) and to 4 of the menu numbers (22. Using Aperture Ring), set to allow Using aperture ring to second option, ie, 2. permitted.

This is explained in your camera manual on page 4.

That is all assuming the aperture ring has no "A" position. If it has an "A", then use it. No need for any of those other settings or the whole manual exposure procedure.

I had same problem with my KX and the ring thing solved it.
