Recover deleted photos on SD card - K20D

Hi, just wanted to know if I can recover deleted photos on my Pentax K20D or from the SD card? I see some software options on the net but not sure what is save and was hoping someone could help steer me in the right direction. Should I download or take it somewhere?
Thanks

Pandora Recovery worked for me once. It's free. One important thing to remember when you end up in this situation is to not do anything more with your SD card, like take more pictures, since it could make recovery impossible. Good luck!

Dion, SanDisk has a program called RescuePro that comes with some of their higher end SD cards (at least it did awhile back - I haven't checked in some time). I've used it and it works pretty good. Do a Google search on the name.

Just keep in mind, that if the card is damaged most likely nothing will work - it has to be "PC Readable". Also, any newer pics will probably overwrite any pics you deleted.

Good luck.

I managed to erase all of my Paris photos. I had previously had success retrieving jpegs with Recuva but it doesn't seem to work too well on DNG's. I ended up bringing the cards to a specialist in data retrieval and he rescued all 1000 photos, with not a one missing. It was well worth the money to me (I think it was around $130).

He told me there's no harm in trying one of free sofwares, as long as you carefully engage the little non-record tab on the card beforehand.

Christophe Grenier's 'PhotoRec_win' is very good and very basic - as long as you don't mind the command line interface... Looks at all files including DNG not just the basic photo formats

I've had nothing but success from Piriform. They do the job so well; I'm suprised they haven't been bought out by a company such as Microsoft or Apple

One post deleted so far.
These recovery threads are always entertaining. They attract low-life spammers like crumbs on the floor attract cockroaches.

EDIT: Another 2 more spammers just bit the dust.

Can you explain that a bit more clearly, Cindy?

I second PhotoRec, open source and cross-platform as well. It's companion testDisk will recover any media entirely - even formatted and repartitioned harddrives.

Recuva is great. I recently managed to get back 600 - odd pictures shot in RAW using it, and I'd already deleted all of them and completely filled the card up again. It got all of them back with no losses, as well as the next 600 or so and some even older ones.
