I am using my camera for astrophotography. The market leader in digital control platforms is Maxim DL5. It has built-in Plug-ins for Nikon, Olympus and other cameras but nothing for Pentax cameras. Is the company considering producing an ASCOM compliant plug-in for Maxim. Their website encourages developers to produce 3rd part plug-ins but I am unable to complie suitable software myself.

It's a bit harder for Pentax being such a small camera maker compared to canon and nikon. You may wish to look at the 60Da.

By the way, if you get the o-gps1 accessory, you can leverage your pentax's Sr mechanism to work as an astrotracer.
