Try doing a complete reset of your camera.

The orientation sensor is probably stuck, happened to me with other equipment. It's often cured, not recommended, by a second hard blunt force.

Quick... sell it to one of our Aussie members they will not notice the difference, for them it will look normal.

Seriously, perhaps time to visit the kindly Pentax repair man.

If that doesn't help you can assume that the orientation sensor is either broken or (partially) disconnected from the electronics board onto which it is soldered.
This sensor is likely a tiny 2x2 mm2 part. An exchange of this part is very difficult as the solder connections are typically at the underside of the device.
So repair guys will tend to put in a complete new circuit bard.

So you can do one of the following:
- Live with it
- Send the camera in for repairs which might mean a new electronic circuit board
- Get a new camera

Cheers from Berlin,

jephi

In case you decide to live with it or it can't be repaired, you might have the option "Save Rotation Info" in your camera menu. If you turn that off your photos should be the right way up again, since the wrong sensor information won't get saved into the files. Won't help with vertical shots, of course.
