Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 Macro DG Lens doesn't work on my Pentax k3

Heya guys!

This might be a very dumb question but my Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 Macro DG Lens doesn't work on my Pentax k3. Basically the camera just start with a blink screen and when I was able to fix that doesn't let me auto-focus. I never had any problem using this lens on my K10d.

Any ideas? Thanks

Is the aperture ring set to A?

Do you have to change the settings in camera on the K3 to allow Aperture rings?

Yep did that! and allows me to take pics, but that's that mean I can't auto-focus anymore? Or do I need to just something else?

Thanks guys!!

Check to see if your focus switch is set to manual.

I'm having the same issue with my Pentax 10-17 on the K3. The camera acts like it's an older manual lens and asks you to input the focal length when you first turn it on. You can take pictures, but auto focus does not work.

(All other lenses work, including my Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 Macro DG)

I was going to start a new thread about it if I couldn't figure it out tomorrow, but then found this thread and knew exactly what the OP is talking about.

The 10-17 shouldnt ask for focal length unless it is not communicating - try cleaning the contacts on camera and lens mounts.

Both are brand new (less than 20 photos on the camera), but i'll look at the contacts closer.

To update my problem, I tried the lens on 3 different cameras (K7, K5, K3). Same with all. I determined the lens to be DOA and sent it back for an exchange.
