Hmmm, little difference to have a beeping when switched on without a card, vs the "no card" when pressing the shutter button. Try the "old" film days, when one could "take" an entire roll of memorable photos, only to find out when they get home that the film was in their pocket!!! You only do that once!
Ja, happily shooting along and it goes like this on a 36 exposure spool
  • hey, 36 exposures, maybe I can squeeze an extra one out
  • yep, 37 exposure, nice, an extra one
  • 38 exposures, hmm,
  • 39 exposures, oops, let's see if the rewind handle turns when I transport
  • f.ck

Ah yes. This is why I have an SD card always in my camera bag. Its a spare, an extra. If I fill up the one in the camera, or lose it, or forget it.

There's a place in my grip that holds an extra SD card. It's important to have an extra, even if you have one in the camera. Something can happen to a card at anytime.

Suggestion for Pentax -- have the camera go 'beep-beep-beep' when switched on without a card!
Excellent idea! Imagine grabbing up the camera for that once in a lifetime pic and..... Arrrrrgh!

Try using Fujifilm's X-T1. It never even tells you you don't have a card.

Even if it beeps, you still lose the shot.

That truly sucks.

The beeping or some other bizarre behavior might well be a good idea though. This last weekend I was shooting with a friend and she was happily shooting away with her recently repaired K-50. It was only after about 1/2 hour of creative shooting that she actually attempted to chimp and discovered that all of her good work was for naught. Yes, she forgot to put the card back in when it came back from the shop.

The K-50 tells you there's no card in the camera in two ways.
1: There's a red SD card symbol on screen with a cross through it when you turn the camera on.
2: After shooting, NO CARD IN CAMERA is printed right across the LCD.

I've made it a habit to put in a fresh SD card when I remove the used one to download pictures. I also carry a spare in my camera bag.

I remember buying a Panasonic DMC-FZ10 (4mp, bridge, 12X ) which came with a 16mb sd card. I bought a 128mb card. This was back in 2004

Yep.

Not unless you plan on saving the images.

I'm not sure if he is being serious or not
