turn off flash on K3

I just purchased a K3 and need to know how to turn off the flash. Need to shoot in a no flash photography allowed situation.

Take dial off program. Use AV at the event for example - flash will not fire unless you press it to pop up. If you use TAV you can preset the range of ISO values you wish to stay within and then fire away flash free.

If this is all a challenge read the manual with the camera on your knee and teach yourself til you become familiar.

Don't pop up the flash?

AFAIK the flash will not fire unless you have it open.

The flash is only enabled when it is popped up. Unlike some cameras, it will not pop up unless you push the button to enable it.

Unlike most point-and-shoot cameras, the k-3 is a DSLR and will not fire the flash unless you want it to (by pressing the pop-up flash).

I believe in green mode the camera will refuse to release the shutter if it thinks the flash should fire and you don't have it up, just FYI to the people saying to just not raise it. I don't have my camera in front of me, but I believe that is the case.

Nope. Just tested it with the lens cap on. Takes a picture no problem in green mode. Might be a setting someplace that changes that behavior, but if so I'm not aware of it.

Aye, perhaps my reply was a bit too tongue in cheek.

Ha ha, tea time here as well!! It's late as my wife is chatting on the phone with our daughter in law. Might have to make my own.
