You are talking apples and oranges. HDR and RAW are two completely different things.

You could ask RAW or Jpeg .
You could ask HDR or single exposure.

HDR means High Dynamic Range. There are several ways to do this. One is to shoot a number of images, usually in RAW, and combine them in software to produce a single HDR image. Another way is to set the camera to HDR which will take several images and combine them in the camera into a single jpeg image. HDR is used when the dynamic range of the scene exceeds the possible range of the camera sensor.

RAW is a file format that includes all image data from the camera's sensor, it is not really an image file just data. it must be processed either in camera or on a computer into a viewable format such as jpeg or TIFF or PNG.

Hope that helps.

Hey, welcome! I think raw is enough for most usage, with good software you can lower contrast and recover highlights and it will be almost like HDR.
HDR is difficult and can only be used for still subjects. Someone walking, wind blowing, camera hand shaking? HDR will be difficult, because it takes three or more frames.
HDR bracketing has its uses, but I find them to be rare. Only when nothing is moving, you have tripod, and the contrast is really too much for a single photo.

Just shoot raw and use good software to make it look any way you want. There are some threads about software and plugins already, if you are interested

Horses for courses...Shoot HDR when you want HDR and RAW when appropriate. You can also shoot HDR using RAW, but not in-camera.

RAW. And, if the dynamic range is too large for a single RAW, use bracketing. Then take the bracketed RAWs and post process them using HDR functionality, such as that which can be found in Photoshop.
