I recently got a white pentax camera (K-s1).
A few weeks before, I got myself a much older film model which came with a brilliant macros lense. However...
I've tried to use this lense with my new camera, it attaches fine with no problems however the photo will just not take. I've tried a few of the different settings and so far i've had no luck.
Please could somebody give me a hand?
I apologise if this makes me look really stupid.

Go into your menu and make sure that you have the aperture ring option selected (the exact wording may be different for each camera). In mine, it's "Custom Functions" - "Using Aperture Ring" - then select "Permitted".

The advice above is good. But please post the full name and description of the lens you are trying to use in order to get more help. There are many different lenses with different abilities and without knowing what we are dealing with we are only guessing.

I've had the same issue in the past and MyInkIsMyArt's suggestion was just the ticket.
