Pentax K50 + SMC FA 100-300mm

I own a SMC Pentax FA 100-300 F4.7-5.8 telephoto lens. It is currently mounted to a ZX50 camera body.

I would like to purchase a Pentax DSLR K-50.

Will this lense mount and work properly w/ the DSLR? I've found different charts that say yes, and no....

Yes.
Any F or FA lens will work just like a modern lens.

Actually any K-mount lens will work but older ones lack auto focus or auto aperture.

I have the FA 100-300 f/4.7-5.8, and it definitely works on all my Pentax DSLRs with full functionality. I don't know why any chart would say otherwise.

If the "chart" came from Amazon - they get it all wrong. There are some lenses that have odd/large flanges in the rear mount that get in the way of some of the things inside the newer bodies but this is rare. (By Newer I mean any autofocus body film or digital with SDM or PowerZoom) lens contacts) Most of these are not Pentax but 3rd party. Your 100-300 will work.

Thanks for the quick replies !! I was looking at a chart at "mosphotos" if you google Pentax Lens Chart.. its the #1 link.

It confused me.. saying the ZX50 is a "crippled KAF2"... and that the metering might not work right w/ that lens mounted to a K mount body...

The 'crippled' mount is only an issue with older, pre-A series lenses (the M, K column, furthest to the right). The "AF" column next to it is for a single very early (1981) autofocus lens that was just for the ME-F camera. The column you want for your lens is the fourth from the right, for F, FA, and D FA lenses.
