K100d

I have a Pentax K100D which appears to only use a 1 or 2GB SD card. I cannot find and SD card smaller than 4GB which will not work in my camera. Is there a software update for the camera or a place I can find 1 or 2 GB SD cards?

There is a firmware update that enables the use of SDHC cards:
Firmware Update Software for K100D | Software Downloads?RICOH IMAGING CANADA

With a bit of luck you may be able to create a 1Gb FAT32 partition on your SDHC card that might be recognized by the K100D even before you update its firmware.

Or, grab a standard SD card for $4.95 and use that to carry out the update

A firmware upgrade will allow it to use SDHC cards (up to 32 GB), but you do need a small SD card to hold the new firmware when you perform the upgrade. Ask around, perhaps one of your friends would have one you could borrow. When the upgrade is done you don't need that size card again.

I had to do this on an *ist DS recently. Luckily I had a 1GB card for an old sound recorder I was able to use.
