Battery Drain

I have a K100D. I put if fresh batteries and within a day or so the batteries show only about 50%. This is even without shooting any photos. Anyone experience the same problem and what might be the cause / solution?

First make sure about the life of the batteries by checking the expiration date on the package. Remember, most batteries have an LSD (Low Self Drain) feature while on the shelf. Be sure to clean your terminals inside the battery chamber and also on the batteries. Here is what I did with my Pentax k100d Super. I removed the batteries, turned the camera on and let it sit for about one hour or even over night. This will be sure to drain any juice remaining in the capacitors. It worked fine for me. I hope all of this helps, let us know what kind of batteries you are putting in, i,e., re-chargeable, non-rechargeable, and the brand name. Good luck.

I had batteries start to do that same thing and in the end the batteries were no good anymore. Not as in not charged, but as in would not hold a charge at all so I tossed them and got some new ones.

"took them to be recycled"
just fixing that for you. ;-)

In Oz, your local library has a bin for recycling batteries. I hope people use it, as they're full of heavy metals and toxins.
