Hi. I have a Pentax P3. The battery cap on the bottom is completely stripped. The battery needs to be changed. Any thoughts about how to get the battery cap off? (I've considered attaching a dime to it with epoxy and then turning the dime with pliers. But I thought I'd ask first.)

Any thoughts appreciated.

So to be clear, the threads aren't stripped, the coin slot is. Correct?

Maybe just drill two small holes to fit a spanner wrench?

A small wing-nut might be an even better idea; then you could get leverage without needing the pliers. Good luck!

This is one of the reasons I prefer the P30T - the battery compartment is a slide-lock affair.

I think there's only three screws holding on the bottom plate. Just take that off and the battery cover comes off with it. Then you could attack the battery cover without worrying about the camera, or just keep using the screws for battery changes.
