Sigma 18-300 lens can't get auto focus to work

I bought a 18-300 lens from B and H Photo and can't get the auto focus to work, have both the lens and camera set to auto focus

What camera are you using? Is the display showing F--? Are you shooting through the viewfinder or live view?

dang I forgot that a K100D, looking through the view finder and it some a MF in the lower left hand corner, when I put on the 18-55 it works in auto

The K100D does not support SDM and as such it will not autofocus with this 18-300mm lens.

I'd recommend upgrading to the K-50

Yup, you'd need something just a bit newer, at least. SDM support wasn't available until the K100D Super, K10D, K200D era.

How about the K3 which would be better the K3 or the K-50 thanks I guess I should have asked here before I bought the lens
