Sometimes the grass may appear greener on the other side of the fence, however when you jump over it can be no different.A good way to try some Pentax glass is find the bargain high quality vintage lenses and adapt to the Sony,if they work OK it maybe worth investing in the techart pro AF adapter. It might save some $$$ and you are shooting with Pentax(lenses)!

Feel free to PM me. I was and have been quite active over on talkemount and mu-43. I've sold quite a few of my Sony glass and kept the glass that worked best or where there is no alternative currently from Pentax that I am happy with.
Sony's zooms are not at the same quality control as Canon or Pentax. Their 24-70 F4 is frustrating and overpriced. The 70-200 F4 is pretty good. The 16-35 F4 is great and can take normal filters (thank you Sony!) however on each count I'd take the Canon or Pentax equivalent.

I've played with the 24-70 2.8 GM on my A7rii but in all honesty, putting the hype and lines on a wall aside for a second, the IQ is as good as the Canon 24-70 LII, Pentax 24-70 and Nikkor 24-70 but really no better. If you want better than those zooms you need to jump to an expensive pro grade prime.
Maybe, there is less onion ring in the bokeh from the GM relative to the others, however I found it be better at the long end than the wide. This was strange for me because as a landscape photographer I'd probably want the biting sharpness closer to the wide or middle of the range. As a portraiture photographer at 70mm, I'd happily sacrifice a little sharpness (makes for better portraiture). However really I'm splitting hairs. It's a great lens, just not any better in optics IMHO. With respect to QC and build - I'm skeptical given problems with the 24-70 F4 and 16-35 and 28mm F2.
Personally I prefer the character of the SAL24-70 2.8 a-mount - that's an excellent optic and I prefer the rendering to the new GM.

There are other things to consider jumping ship - can you live without the EVF? Do you enjoy the OVF.

Is it possible to achieve ultra sharp result with legacy Pentax lenses
I've certainly had no issues with my "Ladies" and nor has anyone else who matters to me i.e. customers/clients, but I can only speak for primes.
