Pentax Optio450 videos won't play

After several years the videos will now not play on my 32bit Windows 7 computer. I get the message – “Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the
file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.”
I have spent hours (days) using ‘help’ and online, and trying all sorts of ways, including trying Movie Maker, without success. All my other videos from a camcorder, digital camera and phones play ok. I eventually want to copy all my videos onto separate storage. Please can you help me.
